I am very blessed to have the opportunity to create music with these very talented cats.
Bobby Beall
Born and raised in the City of
Brotherly Love, Bobby is a product of
the sounds of Philly: Harold Melvin,
MFSB, the O’Jays, and the Stylistics.
Influenced by a musical family, Bobby
taught himself to play by listening to
recordings by Billy Cobham, Narada
Michael Walden, Airto, and Peter
Erskine. He developed his love for
jazz while attending Howard
University. Always a crowd pleaser,
he’s known for his energy and
infectious grooves.
Mike Montgomery
Mike began studying jazz at Virginia
Tech playing electric bass in combo
classes. After a 15 year hiatus, he
continued his studies with Anthony
Wellington. In ‘03, he made a
commitment to straight-ahead jazz
and the double bass. Mike formed his
own quartet and landed gigs with
local artists Tara Hofmann, Sandy
Asirvatham, Mike Fore, and Kevin
Mittleman. He has played with local
legend Buck Hill and done studio
work with bass great, Victor Wooten.
Marchel Ivery
I had the awesome privaledge to share the bandstand with the late great Marchel Ivery. One of Texas' own, a true giant on the tenor sax. These pic's of him, Benny Medina and myself were taken during a set break at the Catalina room April 2007. Click on the link below to see us in action at Brooklyn's Jazz Cafe November 2007, Marchel Ivery - Tenor Sax, Prakash Wright - Piano, Joe Johnson - Bass, Benny Medina - drums.
